Peer Review Approach
Hearing Research International bases its funding decisions on peer review recommendations and its success relies on the research community’s participation. Peer review is the internationally accepted standard for determining excellence in scientific research. The purpose of the Grant Review Panel (GRP) is to assess the feasibility, impact, methodology and knowledge translation plan for each full application submitted for funding. The GRP consists of scientists recognized by their peers in the scientific community as subject matter experts. The GRP provides written reviews shared with the applicants to facilitate the further development of rigorous meritorious projects. To view our Grant Review Panel member list, click here.
The merit of each Funding Application will be evaluated against criteria related to:
- Relevance (alignment with HRI priorities, clear need, evidence-based rationale)
- Excellence (rigour, design quality, and methodological strength)
- Innovative research (original bold ideas or approaches; challenges current paradigms)
- Feasibility (achievable with available time, team and resources)
- Potential for Impact (meaningful benefit; clear and credible path for impact)
